Poc'anzi cercavo su wikipedia dettagli sul "threading" la curiosa tecnica che usa la mia estetista indiana per farmi le sopracciglia (confermo che sono diventata così pigra che nemmeno questo faccio più da sola). Non solo ci mette 3 minuti ed è bravissima ma è uno spettacolo affascinante. Il tutto si svolge tendendo un filo di cotone che forma una specie di "cappio". Un capo del filo si tiene nei denti e l'altro che è, appunto, chiuso ad anello, in mano. Tirando il cappio si crea un movimento rotatorio che "decapita" il pelo creando linee perfette. Gli uomini omaniti usano lo stesso sistema per ritoccare i loro elaboratissimi sistemi di pizzo-bassette che paiono fatti col righello. Per intenderci parliamo di quel look che in Italia va per la maggiore, ad esempio, tra i poliziotti delle volanti.
Mentre leggevo mi è caduto l'occhio su un link: "Islamic Ruling on Waxing Unwanted Hair". Mi si è aperto un mondo! Porta ad un sito su cui si può indagare la liceità di ogni e qualunque cosa. Vi premetto che in Oman ho visto per la prima volta uomini che si cerettano LE ORECCHIE, donne che si dipingono il monociglio (quelle che non ce l'hanno naturale) perchè è stiloso e bambini di 5 anni così ipertricotici che, uscendo bagnati dalla piscina, gli si forma una V di pelo sulla schiena. Il rapporto col pelo è senz'altro tribolato.

As for your question, Dr. Rif`at Fawzi, professor of Shari`ah at Cairo Univ., states:
"There is no evidence from the Qur'an or the Sunnah that forbids cutting short the hair from the chest and back; but the removal of hair from these parts may be considered a form of imitating women, something forbidden according to the hadith: 'May Allah's curse be inflicted on women imitating men and vice versa.' As for women, it is permissible for them to remove hair from these parts because it causes them harm.
As for removing the hair from between the eyebrows, it is lawful, because it is not part of the eyebrows. But as for plucking the eyebrows, it is forbidden and not permissible in Islam, according to the Hadith: 'May Allah's curse be inflicted upon women who pluck their eyebrows, and women hired to do this.'
What is prohibited is an-Nams, which denotes removing the hair of the eyebrows by plucking in order to make it thin. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is reported to have cursed both women who do the plucking and those who seek to have it done. (Reported by Abu Dawud)"
