Copio-incollo l'articolo in prima pagina sull'Oman Observer di oggi. ALLUCINANTE. Nel frattempo ha ricominciato a piovere. Speriamo in bene.
"Flash floods, coupled with strong winds, left some people stranded, missing or dead as the density of the depression mounted in several areas in the Sultanate yesterday. In the Dakhiliyah region, two people were confirmed drowned in Wadi Fanja, while another two died in the Wilayat of Nizwa as low visibility caused a head-on collision between two vehicles, according to ROP sources.
In the Governorate of Muscat, floods in the Wilayat of Al Amerat’s Wadi Ghizlan washed away seven vehicles, but one of the vehicles carrying two women and a child was towed to safety. A man was rescued by policemen of Al Amerat Police Station, who also went to the rescue of an expatriate woman whose husband went missing in the same wadi as he tried to help another man in trouble. In the Dahahirah region, a man was reported missing in Dhank while two more people were rescued by policemen.
In the wilayat of Bausher, policemen rescued the passengers of three vehicles that were washed away by Wadi Al Ansab as they ventured to cross the roaring gorge. In Wadi Adai, floods led to the stranding of 20 people on board a bus as the driver tried to cross the wadi. Attempts were still being made to rescue the passengers till the late afternoon. In the Wilayat of Seeb, near Wadi al Khodh, 10 people took to a mountain as rapid floods surprised them while they were taking pictures of the rains. Efforts were being made by the Royal Oman Police until a late hour to rescue them.
In the Sharqiyah region’s Wilayat of Sur, policemen managed to remove a stranded vehicle before it was washed away by the wadi. In the Batinah region, policemen rescued people who were stranded in their vehicles in Wadi al Ghalil in the Wilayat of Al Suwaiq. There were scores of unconfirmed reports of similar accidents in other parts of the Sultanate. Strong winds also felled electric poles in different places, including one Al Azaiba and five in Nakhl."
